A nice spot in good old Nijmegen, the oldest town in the Netherlands (2.000+ years old).
Looks more or less the same nowadays (minus a sculpture, plus a fenced square). These ruins were part of a castle originally made for Charlemagne, although this part was built in the 12th century for "Barbarossa" (emperor Frederick I).
But look closer at those three couples (and baby)! There's someone dressed in an old-fashioned chinese-looking outfit, a bearded giant, a child or tiny person and someone posing sideways (facing the exotic palm)....
